Health & Fitness Disclaimer
Version 2.1 — July 30, 2026
1. Not Medical Advice
Gradescale provides training analytics tools. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. All metrics — including FTP estimates, VO2max estimates, readiness scores, training load calculations, and physiological profiles — are mathematical approximations derived from algorithmic models applied to sensor data.
2. Assumption of Risk
By using Gradescale, you acknowledge that endurance training involves inherent risks including but not limited to overtraining, injury, illness, and cardiovascular events. You assume full responsibility for all training decisions you make based on information provided by the Service. Gradescale is a decision-support tool, not a decision-maker.
3. Stop and Seek Help
Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain or pressure, light-headedness or fainting, an irregular or racing heartbeat, unusual breathlessness, or any symptom that feels abnormal to you. Do not resume training on the basis of any Gradescale metric, readiness score, or recommendation until a qualified healthcare professional has cleared you to do so.
4. Sensor Accuracy
The accuracy of all analytics is dependent on the quality, calibration, and completeness of data from your sensors (power meters, heart rate monitors, GPS devices). Gradescale makes no guarantees about the precision of any computed metric. Outputs may differ from other platforms due to methodological differences.
5. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gradescale, its creator Thomas Mortelmans, and any affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service for training decisions, physical activity, or health-related decisions.
6. Consult a Professional
Before beginning or significantly altering any training programme, consult a qualified healthcare professional, particularly if you have pre-existing medical conditions, cardiovascular risk factors, or have been inactive for an extended period.
7. Governing Law
This disclaimer is governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes shall be brought before the courts of Zurich, Switzerland, subject to mandatory EU consumer protection provisions.
